What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is chronic noncontagious autoimmune disease that causes rapid buildup of skin cells. This buildup of cells causes scaling, on the skin surface most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp, lower back and genitals but they can appear any where. Psoriasis varies in severity from small localized patches to complete body coverage.

Psoriasis causes the body to produce skin cells in days rather than weeks.

Inflammation and redness around the scales is fairly common. Typical psoric scales are whitish-silver and develop in thick, red patches. Sometime these patches will crack and bleed.
